About the Artist

I-Chin Lin

Born in Yunlin County in 1983, Lin cultivated his vision of choreography through long-term field studies of the local culture. With the intention to construct a unique style and method by using the physical body, Lin turned to theater as a medium to transform and re-create contemporary art.Lin has observed the nature of body movements through local culture, language, diet, environment, social history and other backgrounds. Having collaborated with the same group of professional and amateur dancers for many years, they work to find ways to exercise the body for the soul. Together, they dance and create, continuing a research and dialogue made to last.

Profile

Born in 1989 in Yunlin, Lin is the current producer of Mauvais Chausson Dance Theatre. The 2018-2019 resident artist of Mauvais Chausson has participated in administrative planning and execution of several productions. Now with the vision of a professional producer, he is committed to locally rooting the dance group while making the step onto the international stage.

Lin’s long-term focus is on body-based artistic work, using “play” and “pleasure” as the core of his creations. He is currently undergoing research on the traditional Taiwanese religious troupe parades of the Guan Jiang Sho and how it transfers to the contemporary theater.
